Advanced Surface Ablation (ASA) uses the same kind of eximer laser to reshape the corneal surface as LASIK. The difference is no flap is made. For some persons, ASA is an advantage. Nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism are treated. The vision results are equally good as LASIK. Generally, one resumes most normal activities after four or five days.
